Inside the Mind of a Super Hero

The Psychology of a Superhero.

Real life Superheros.

Death only happens to people who have been living.

Tap into your unique genius.

Life is easy, we make it hard. Follow the dots and say yes to all that is. Be kind and have fun. Don’t add drama where there isn’t any. Work hard and do it with passion. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Be nice to yourself and others. Don’t beat yourself up, but finish what you start. Take chances. Day by day, chip away at a goal that forces you to tap into your hidden talents. Create something that leaves others awe struck. Within each of us lives a superhero - we just need to wake ‘em up !

As a human being (and a teacher), I strive to live in alignment with the seven qualities of a super hero:

  1. Authentic and personable. (iAm Selfless)
  2. Relaxed, grateful, and genuinely happy. (iAm Grateful)
  3. At peace with the world and myself. I say yes to all that is. (iAm Humble)
  4. I recognize the genius in myself and others. (iAm Worthy)
  5. I acknowledge that we all have our flaws, and there's always room to improve.
  6. My energy and mental clarity is a direct result of what I eat and the exercise I fit into my day (iAm strong)
  7. Self-confident with a positivity bias. (iAm Courageous)

I believe there’s a superhero in each of us. One question is whether or not a traumatic event needs to happen to awaken it within you.

I am inspired by the superheroes around me. When I go to yoga, I see the superhero in my teachers.

Recently I spent 3 days with someone who was a songwriting superhero.

It’s about recognizing the superhero within each person. When we see the potential genius that lies within them, we get a glimpse of it.

How do we tap into our own superhero powers?

Imagine if early in life you discovered you had an extremely rare blood type. You were told that others who have this blood type have superhuman powers. You'd life your life much differently, wouldn't you? I'm betting confidence would never be a problem for you. Imagine what we could achieve if we only believed.

The Super hero diet

My first indication that our diet can have a dramatic impact on our well being didn’t occur to me until I felt first hand the effects of removing an abundance of carbs from my diet. After the first 3 days of detox, I begin to feel much better than I had in years.

I was inspired by someone I met who had been on the keto diet for two years. he looked like a superhero. he shared with me that his mind was sharper than it ever had been and his memory had improved, evidenced by the fact he could remember peoples names, something he never could do before.

While a full blown keto diet is difficult to maintain, I am tuned into the foods I eat more than ever before, limiting the carbs as much as I can. Turns out when you have less carbs on our plate, you have more room for the good stuff.

What I do notice now is how the foods I eat do have a direct impact on my mood and energy. You might be surprised to discover that irritation you feel stems from what you ate this morning.

Superheroes know the wrong foods zap their energy. Bread and sugar is like kryptonite.

Food is fuel for the body and the brain. Sugar gives evil cancer an environment to thrive.

Alcohol in moderation is fine, but the fine tuned body and mind of a superhero is extremely sensitive to toxins.

Superheroes wear a uniform

One common thread every superhero has is a uniform. Whether it’s James Bond, Batman, or Spider-Man, the uniform transforms them into the mindset.

Real-life Superheroes

They put on a uniform. Whether it’s doctor changing into a smock or a banker wearing a suit, the right clothing is key to getting into the superhero mindset. As writer, I find it helps to get into the flow of writing when the environment is setup.

The Gracie family brought Jiu-Jitsu to America. They opened up academies all over the country. In doing so, they brought a superhero skill to millions.

Batman possess martial arts skills, thinks strategically, and has the mind of a genius. He also has a set of tools vital to his success. The gadgets he uses extends his limits.

The Superhero Persona

Be. Do. Have.

The idea is ‘have’ the qualities of a superhero, we must first ‘be’come the kind of person and act in alignment to that persona we first imagined. Who we become is the result.

The founder of the Superhero Foundry in Las Vegas said “We believe that every human being has an innate specialty, something that makes them extraordinary.”

Superheroes save lives. Do you know CPR? If someone, perhaps a loved one needed it on the spot, knowing CPR is a vital skill. You can get a guide online, but nothing beats in person training. It’s offered in almost every community.

The tempo of the song ‘Staying Alive’ is a good aid to remember on how often you push down on the chest. Of course, there’s also an App for that!
