Hard work

When does hard work turn into a hardship? Am I unnecessarily making a hardship out of hardwork?

Do you experience hard work as rewarding or as suffering?

What makes work hard?

Suffering is wanting things to be different than they are.

"It is what it is" is a quote that drives my wife crazy, as it brings to light reality. The script leads us to believe there's a better life somewhere else. Whether it's a trip to a resort, a night at a 5-star hotel, a meal at an expensive restaurant, or owning something better than what you have... the script conditions us to reject reality.

Yes, reality can bite sometimes... but that's what life is all about. You can't have the ups without the downs.

How does this relate to hard work?

Hard work is self inflicted illusion. We make work hard when we resist the work itself.

I've noticed my work has become more difficult lately. Why? Because I wish I was doing something else. Everything else becomes more irritable when our 'obligations' keep us from what we actually want to do.

I've also recognized a common thread with difficult clients (which suck the life force out of me). It's that they don't value the work I do.

Work that goes unappreciated feels difficult. It's the infinite loops that drive us all crazy.

What's the solution?

End it and move on.
