Lately, I've been tuning into the opinions of others, as well as my own opinions - of others and of myself. Now I'm curious about where those opinions came from.
It seems like people are more opinionated today than ever before. And how 'aware' of our own opinions are we? The basic idea that every thought is simply an opinion - a point-of-view. Facts vs. fiction.
Each of us have unique circumstances. We did not pick the families we were born into, not did we pick the beliefs thrust upon us. The longer I live, the more I see my dad in myself. This is surprising because there was much about my dad I dislike. And now that I'm older, I've adopted those same beliefs about myself. As such, there seems to be many aspects of myself I dislike. The key is compassion.
Opinions are free, but following them may incur a cost :)
My statements are only opinions and based on my own uniqueness and may not reflect the opinions of others. They are always based on a specific 'point in time' which is likely to change over time. Ask me in a year and I will likely have a new opinion to share based on experience. How's that for a disclaimer?
My opinion on opinions is to formulate your own after gathering the opinions of others (which requires that you ask others for their opinion on the matter and truly listen without bias for own opinion!)
