Delegate

I am a conduit of service. To amplify my service is to delegate and to delegate is to empower. Give others the opportunity to serve and you will amplify the service to others.

Your life is meant to serve (and the receive). Service is not a sacrifice, it's an honor.

Learn how to more effectively delegate and get more done!

Delegation itself increases your status and control, but you cannot outsource the learning required to delegate well—you have to practice it yourself.

Delegate yourself.

Q. Can you truly delegate responsibility?

Responsibility is taking ownership. Before you can delegate responsibility, you must transfer ownership. It can't be a one-sided transfer. Both parties must agree. You are either delegator or the delegate.

"Match your actions to the context (suitable conditions) and energy level. Delegating your future self a list of clearly-defined tasks means you won’t have to scan a list of tasks when you’re tired and try to decide which one would be easiest. It makes it easier to use those small blocks of time more productively if you don’t have to think too much about them."

Seven Levels of Delegation

  1. Tell: I will tell them
  2. Sell: I will try and sell it to them
  3. Consult: I will consult and then decide
  4. Agree: We will agree together
  5. Advise: I will advise but they decide
  6. Inquire: I will inquire after they decide
  7. Delegate: I will fully delegate

If you feel “if you want something done, do it yourself,” the fix is not to pull everything back, but to deliberately choose and communicate a suitable level of delegation for each area of work. Over time, this structured approach helps others grow while freeing you from redoing work and micromanaging.

Team Skyad

A simple memorable acronym from the seven levels is T-SCAIAD → pronounce it like “SKY-add” with a silent T at the start: “T‑SKYAD.”

How to remember it

Picture moving decisions “up into the sky” as you increase autonomy: you start with Tell/Sell close to you and end with Delegate fully in the “sky” with the team, linked by S‑C‑A‑I‑A‑D → “SKYAD.”
