We have a vacancy for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to work on our high-profile initiatives for an emerging set of Indie Publishing Enterprise customers. Amazon Independent Publishing enables authors and publishers to reach readers worldwide in print (CreateSpace) and digital (Kindle Direct Publishing) formats. This team is at the center of the creative disruption that is happening in the publishing world, and we are reinventing the relationship between writers and readers. In this role you will work with engineers, other TPMs, and senior management across the Kindle Content organization to extend our platform and tools to handle the special needs of our customers, confronting all technical and business challenges implicit in these goals. Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail-driven, and have excellent problem solving abilities. Responsibilities:

· Ownership of all technical aspects of Amazon Indie Publishing’s platform features & tools for a specific segment of our customers · Collaboration with business stakeholders and development teams to build a project roadmap that makes the most efficient use of resources and technologies while tackling the business’s top priorities · Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints · Leading cross-functional development teams through requirements, design, delivery, and support of software projects · Gathering user feedback and customer interaction data to dive deep and find development opportunities and drive continuous improvement

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 7+ years of relevant work experience in technical product and project management for internet-related software applications · Demonstrable ability to engage and influence development teams on design and technical levels · Undergraduate degree in software-product management, computer science, or equivalent experience · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Solid experience and track record of successful system implementations utilizing multiple project management methodologies, tools and techniques. Strong familiarity with agile methodologies · A strong track record of successful project delivery for large, cross-functional projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Technology experience/skills with Web Services, Distributed Systems, Cloud-Computing, and Web Applications development preferred · Experience driving prioritization decisions across a wide range of stakeholders through strategic investments · Experience in creating and managing complex, cross-team project plans; prior success in driving execution of large-scale project plans with multiple teams in support of business goals · Experience running teams using the Scrum method for agile software development preferred · Strong organizational skills, successful track record of coordinating between multiple project stakeholders, technical program managers, and software development teams · Tracking and mitigating risks on large scale projects · Previous work experience as a software developer · Ability to enable effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities · Experience working with authors and a good understanding of what makes them happy and successful · A love of reading and a desire to create great reading experiences
