HOMEMADE KAHULA

Ingredients

6 tablespoon instant coffee
6 cups water
3 cups sugar
fifth of vodka
1 tablespoon vanilla

Boil the coffee, water and sugar for 5 minutes. Cool the mixture to room temperature. Add the vodka and vanilla. Pour into bottles with tight-fitting caps.

You can drink this right away, but it tastes better with age!

HOMEMADE KAHULA (ver. 2)

This version uses glycerin. As a result, it will be a bit sweeter.

6 tablespoon instant coffee
6 cups water
3 cups sugar
fifth of vodka or brandy
4 teaspoons real vanilla
l tablespoon glycerin

Boil the coffee, water and sugar for 5 minutes. Cool the mixture to room temperature. Add the alcohol, vanilla, and glycerin. Bottle.

Can drink right away, but gets better with age (just like we do ☺).

Makes about 6 bottles in Grolsch-style bottles.
